More than fifty speech-impaired men, women, and children in Jagannathpur upazila received cash assistance from UK-based charity organisations Seven Seed and Al Isharah UK.
Each beneficiary was given Tk5,000 in cash, with the total distribution amount exceeding Tk300,000. In addition, the beneficiaries were served a high-quality cooked lunch as part of the programme.
The distribution took place on Friday afternoon, 9 January, at 2:00pm on the premises of the Jagannathpur Upazila Parishad. The programme was organised under the overall supervision of education enthusiast and social worker Muhammad Jamal Uddin Belal, Chairman of Jagannathpur Nolua Housing Estate Limited.
The cash assistance was formally handed over by Azad Hossain, CEO of UK-based charities Seven Seed and Al Isharah UK, a distinguished son of the Keshabpur area of Jagannathpur municipality.
Among those present at the event were Jagannathpur Press Club Vice President and NTV Europe Sunamganj district correspondent Md Abdul Hay, Jagannathpur upazila General Secretary of Bangladesh Human Rights Implementation Foundation Ekhlachur Rahman Talukdar, prospective secretary of Jagannathpur Market Monitoring Committee Shahjahan Miah, Managing Director of Jagannathpur Nolua Housing Estate Limited Khairul Hasan Rupa, businessman Sadikur Rahman, Student’s Care Jagannathpur upazila Vice President Aminur Rahman Himel, General Secretary Ali Hossain, Imam and Khatib Maulana Lutfur Rahman, UK expatriate Mufti Mashidur Rahman, Kazi Syed Junedur Rahman, Baul singer Babul Miah, and a large number of leaders from various professions.
Speaking at the programme, prominent Jagannathpur businessman Jamal Uddin Belal described the initiative as a noble act, noting that providing significant financial assistance to disadvantaged speech-impaired individuals reflects true humanitarian values. He said expatriate Bangladeshis are contributing meaningfully to the welfare of distressed people in their native areas, despite living far from their homeland.
He added that the joy visible on the faces of the beneficiaries after receiving the assistance was deeply moving and heart-touching.
Jamal Uddin Belal expressed gratitude and congratulations to the leadership of Seven Seed and Al Isharah UK for their charitable initiative and expressed hope that the organisations would expand their welfare activities for people with disabilities in the future.
